The logistics sector is always on the move. Whatever challenge comes our way, we work proactively and find a solution for you one way or the other. Dekker Group works efficiently, is flexible and of course professional.
Dekker Group has a rich history. Our story begins in 1899, with the then 23-year-old Adrianus Dekker. He collects milk from farmers by dog cart and then takes it to the dairy factory. That goes so well that he can quickly switch to several horse and carts. Ultimately, he was able to buy a boat: the first motorized transport in Dekker’s history.
In 1920, ‘Janus’ wrote history by purchasing the first truck for the transport of milk. Son Jaap continues the company with the same perseverance and a perfectly maintained fleet. In 1963, Henk Dekker started driving vegetable oil. It was the first transport outside of milk, with the aim of expanding it in the long term. A few years later, the first cocoa butter journeys started, and chocolate transport expanded.
In 1972, the company moved from the heart of the village to the industrial estate on IJsseldijk West. In the 1980s, the first six heated storage tanks were built, and warehouses were built in which fats were melted. In the following decades, not only the number of services expanded, but also the number of locations to Dendermonde (Belgium in 1990), and Pobiedziska (Poland in 2004), respectively.
The Dekker Group has been operating from Ouderkerk a/d IJssel (the Netherlands), near the port of Rotterdam, for five generations now.
In the meantime the Dekker Group has grown into a mature business, although it still feels like a family business: medium-sized, accessible and friendly. Jan Duel, Dekker’s current managing director, maintains Janus Dekker’s motto: “Onwards and upwards!”
